Curated Resources

Welcome to the Curated Resources Page. Here you will find resources that I recommend for teachers of 12th grade and in science classrooms.

Here are three curated resources that I have been utilizing this year that are my favorites!

This is an online platform that allows you to upload pdfs of PowerPoint slides and then voice record a lecture. There is also an option to upload a link to a video and even write on the slides as you record. This has been a great way to have a multi-platform lecture day, where some students are listening to the lecture via pre-recording on VoiceThread and some students are listening in person to the lecture. It is a paid subscription, but totally worth it in my opinion!

Khan Academy is a great resource for informational videos and practice question sets. There are many courses offered from AP Environmental Science to Chemistry to Maths to Biology and more. It also gives you the ability as a teacher to assign videos and activities to students and then track their progress. This has been a way to have multiple modes of learning information in class. It is a free resource and I would highly recommend using it in class.

PowerPoint is my favorite platform for creating slides. There are so many tools that you can use and it feels very intuitive. A recent feature that PowerPoint added was captions in presenting mode. This is probably my favorite aspect of it because it makes the lecture or even my announcements more accessible for students to read what I'm saying. The microphone is your computer's microphone, so it mostly picks up speech correctly, close to 97% of the time. Sometimes it puts something else, which ends up being pretty funny and a good community building moment. You do have to pay for the platform, but it comes with all of Microsoft suite applications, which are also really powerful.
